Work in pairs. Take turns to tell each other your stories from Exercise 5. The person telling the story has to include the words on the left. The person listening uses the words on the right.

We were walking to get to the mountain to climb when started raining and the right was dark, as we walked find some trees beside a shelter. Then we heard a noise outside and it was a helicopter, luckily they saw and down for us. At first it was exciting but since then we were afraid, because no rain stopped and the wind noise was heard.

You are going to write a true story. It can be from your own life or a story you read in the newspaper. Think about these questions and make notes.

• Where did it happen?  

I was in my country Colombia.

• What was the weather like? 

It was getting too cold and dropping for three hours.

• Who was there and what were they doing? 

Were my parents and my sister, we were going to the house of my grandparents.

• What unexpected event happened?

We crashed a motorcycle, the driver got out where he should. 

• What happened next? 

It was nothing serious, the motorcyclist had just scrapes.

• Did it have a happy or sad ending?  

The police took us home and took care of all the paperwork.
 

Practice telling another story with your partner. Student cycled to work and these events happened.

• You had a terrible journey to work.

• You were cycling and it started raining.

• A car hit your bicycle

• You weren't hurt.

• The driver was very nice. He owns a bycicle shop.

• He gave a new bike!It's much better than your old bycicle! 

I had a really bad day, when I was going to work on my Bicleta started to rain, and the rain was slippery floor and a car I crashed, although I do not spend anything, my bike was destroyed, the driver was very nice and as my bike was so damaged he gave me a new one, because it owns a stock bike, and it's better than the last.

Think of three more real or special events in your life. tell your partner.

When I lived in Colombia my parents lived with me, now only live with my sister. when I come to Mexico I had a tutor. while I was living in Colombia, my sister lives in USA. I was 15 when I first went to USA. When I went to Colombia in December I was with my entire family travel. While I was studying English in the morning in my country, in the afternoon I practiced swimming.

• Do you ever need the personal qualities of a survivor? For example, are there other situations when you need to be decisive , experienced or careful?

Each person has a different way to survive depending on the situation, but people usually are of higher classes have employees who do them all, and these people could not defend basic things like cooking, personal care, wound care or elementary things, so I think personally have the qualities needed to survive in different circumstances. If I see a wounded person who needs water I can take the decision thinking about that person, I could heal and stay alive while.

• Do you think you are a person who takes risks or are you usually very careful?

I am a person who likes to follow rules, if I violate any I make a mistake when I violate some is for my own benefit or that of someone close to me.

• What is your biggest achievement in life so far?

The greatest achievement I've had in my life so far has been the ringing to Mexico to study.

• What is your biggest challenge in the future?

Take my career forward and be the president of the company of my family.

• Is there any kind of adventurous or risky activity you would like yo try in the future?

I would like to venture to travel the world, meet new buildings, new cultures, new people and new architecture.

• In what way are trains in your country similar to, or different from, trains in India?

In my home country Colombia, we have no trains communicate the cities or large towns villages, the most you have is underground but only in some cities. So I could not do any comparison with trains of India.

• Is travelling by train a good way to see a country? Why? / Why not?

If it existed in Colombia train and communicate all cities with the town, I think it would be one of the most used means of transport in my country.

• You have to work late. Write a short text message to your friend. Say you will arrive at the bus station an hour later.

I see an hour later at the bus station.

• You are meeting tonight in the city centre. Suggest your friend takes a taxi from the taxi rank outside the train station.

Take a taxi outside the station.

• You cannot travel with your friend on the underground to the airport. Explain you will travel by bus and meet him/her at the check-in desk.

I'll go by bus, see you in the check-in desk.
 

The Car 

The car is for me the best means of transportation. The car is more comfortable than a bus, because you have your own chair and you can listen to the music you want. Although the car is not as fast as the train or the metro. The metro is fuller than a car. The bus pollutes more than a car. The bus generates more traffic than a car for each stop.

What's your opinion?

Animals are living beings that fulfill a specific mission in the world, so use them as a means of transportation is something that goes against the nature of themselves. Some animals become violent if not leave them in your environment.

The animals are beings who have a right to life like us, are not our servientes.

Do you agree or desagree?

I do not agree with using them as a means of transport.
